We’re working hard to build an integrated transport network that’s easy to use, trusted, available for all and improves connections across Wales and the borders, whether you’re travelling by bus, train on foot or by cycle.
Through our Metro Programmes across Wales, we’re working towards creating a modern, convenient and sustainable transport network that includes bus, rail, bus and active travel (walking and cycling).
Our network will improve our environment by encouraging us all to make better, more sustainable travel choices. Reducing our environmental impact means that we can all make a personal contribution to achieving Wales’ net zero target by 2050.
It’ll also help open-up a wider range of job, leisure, and business opportunities, which will help transform the future economic prospects in Wales.
Metro is part of the integrated transport network we’re building and using these pages you’ll be able to find out more about the exciting projects we’re currently looking at, working on or supporting so you can build up a picture of how public transport is changing in Wales and across the borders.
We’re currently working on four regional Programmes:
- North Wales Metro Programme

- Swansea Bay and West Wales Metro Programme – coming soon to this site
Our Programmes take into account geographical differences which is why we’re sharing them with you region-by-region.
